Coming in 2005...
Thomas Lucas
Productions has committed to seeking a cost-sharing arrangement
with either Nova or PBS in order
to develop a 1 or 2-hour special that takes a sweeping look at high-energy
astrophysics. One possible scope would be the recent findings about
gamma-ray bursts leading to the birth of black holes and the seeming
ubiquity of black holes and jets in the universe. NASA
funds would be used to develop higher quality graphics and animations,
and to augment the website development by Nova or PBS
staff. Thomas Lucas Productions
has extensive experience in developing astronomy shows for public
television: they produced Mysteries
of Deep Space (which featured the Hubble Space Telescope), Voyage
to the Milky Way, and the NSF-co-sponsored
documentary entitled Runaway
Universe (which is about dark energy and the cosmological constant).
We will be providing scientific oversight for this project.
